Getting Started

Install the app

This page is for a user connecting to a Computle workstation from their own device for the first time. The app is called Computle (Remotle). If you have a Computle Device, or are not sure, ask your administrator.

These links always serve the current Stable release.

The download page shows the version number and a SHA-256 for each file. Windows installers are signed by Computle Limited and the Mac package is notarised by Apple. The devices each build runs on are listed under Requirements.

  1. Download the file for your device and install it.

Windows: run ComputleRemotleClient-Setup.exe. Mac: open ComputleRemotle.pkg. Linux: sudo apt install ./computle-stream_amd64.deb (or _arm64.deb on Arm). IT teams deploying to many devices use Unattended install.

  2. Open Computle (Remotle) and click Login with Microsoft.

Sign in with your work account. If your organisation does not use Microsoft, enter your work email and open the sign-in link that is emailed to you.

  3. If Microsoft asks, grant consent for Computle to sign you in and read your profile.

Computle requests only openid, profile, email and User.Read. An administrator may need to consent on behalf of your organisation; see Connect Microsoft 365.

  4. Complete any multi-factor prompt your organisation requires.

  5. Select your workstation from the list and click Connect.

The list shows the workstations assigned to you. If it is empty, your administrator has not assigned one yet.

The app connects over the internet without a VPN.

Install Computle from the App Store. It needs iPadOS or iOS 17 or later.

  1. Open the app and tap Login with Microsoft.

  2. Select your workstation and tap Connect.

The app asks for local network access the first time it connects, so it can reach a workstation on the same network directly.

Open Settings in the app and click Log Out.

In Settings:

  • Logs: Open Logs Folder, Share Log, Clear Logs.
  • Diagnostics: Connection Test, Copy Diagnostics.
  • Report a bug: sends your diagnostics and logs to Computle with your description. See Reporting a Bug.

During a session, press F2 or open the menu at the top of the screen to report a problem.

Using the App covers what you can do in a session: screens, USB devices, copy and paste, and the menu. The Remotle site has the same for iPad and iPhone, including touch gestures, keyboards and pens.
