Getting Started

Requirements

This page is for the user or IT team checking that a device and its network can reach a Computle workstation.

Your own device

PlatformNeeds
WindowsWindows 10 or later, 64-bit. The sign-in window needs the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime, which is part of Windows 11 and most Windows 10 installations.
MacmacOS 13 or later on Apple silicon. The installer stops on an Intel Mac.
LinuxUbuntu 26.04 or later, or Armbian on an Orange Pi 5, 5 Plus or 5 Pro.
iPad and iPhoneiPadOS or iOS 17 or later.

A graphics card or chip that decodes H.264 or H.265 video in hardware gives the best picture. See System Requirements on the Remotle site for the full list, and Bandwidth for the connection each screen size needs. Downloads are under Install the app.

Computle Device

A locked-down thin client supplied and managed by Computle for fixed desks. See Computle Device.

The Computle app makes outbound connections only. Nothing needs to be opened inbound on your firewall, and the workstation does not listen on any port.

ProtocolPortPurpose
TCP443Sign-in, workstation list, portal, connection set-up, updates, logs
TCP9443Connection set-up, second port of the connection service
UDP4443Session traffic through a Computle relay
UDP3478Network address discovery (STUN)
UDPany high portDirect session traffic between the device and the workstation, when the network allows it

Allow these domains on web filters and proxies:

  • *.computle.com (sign-in, portal, connection service, relays, updates)
  • softwaredownloads.oncomputle.com (downloads)
  • login.microsoftonline.com, login.microsoft.com, login.live.com, graph.microsoft.com (Microsoft sign-in)

The full list, with the addresses workstations need and a test to confirm them, is on the Remotle site: Network Requirements.

Each user needs an internet connection with enough bandwidth for their screens. See Bandwidth. During a session, the Stats panel in the app’s menu shows the latency and bitrate in use.

To connect your whole office network rather than one device, see Site-to-site VPN.
