Getting Started
Set up your organisation
This page is for the IT administrator setting up a new Computle organisation. Each step is one job, with a link to the page that has the detail. Work through them in order; the optional steps can wait.
-
Sign in to the Computle Portal.
Go to
https://portal.computle.comand click Login with Microsoft, or enter your email and open the sign-in link. The first administrator of a new organisation is set up by Computle; your account manager tells you when it is ready. See The Computle Portal for the sidebar and who sees what. -
Connect Microsoft 365.
The first Microsoft sign-in from your organisation asks for consent to the Computle sign-in application. Grant it on behalf of your organisation so your users are not each asked. See Connect Microsoft 365 for the two applications Computle uses and the permissions each needs.
-
Add your users.
Invite people one at a time on the Users page, or turn on Directory Sync to create and update them from your Microsoft Entra ID security groups every hour. Give at least one other person the Tenant Admin role. See Users and Directory Sync.
-
Assign workstations.
Each workstation is assigned to one user, and a user can only connect to a workstation assigned to them. On the Workstations page, click ⋯ on an Available workstation, choose Edit Assignment, pick the user and save. See Assigning workstations.
-
Join the workstations to Microsoft Entra ID.
Single Sign-On and Intune both need every workstation joined to your Microsoft Entra directory. On the Users page, open the Entra join tab and join each workgroup workstation; it is enrolled in Intune without anyone at the workstation. A workstation already on your on-premises domain needs a hybrid join through Microsoft Entra Connect instead. The Entra column on the Workstations page shows each one’s join. See Entra join.
-
Turn on Single Sign-On.
Single Sign-On signs the user in to Windows on their workstation with the Microsoft account they used in the app, so no Windows password is typed. On the Users page, open the Single Sign-On tab, choose the device group and click Connect Microsoft Entra. Then check every workstation shows ready on the SSO diagnostics tab. Users must sign in to the app with Sign in with Microsoft for it to work. See Single Sign-On.
-
Optional: site-to-site VPN.
The app reaches a workstation over the internet with no VPN. If your file servers, printers or domain controllers in the office need to reach the workstations, or the workstations need to reach them, set up an IPsec tunnel from your office firewall. See Site-to-site VPN.
-
Set the session policies.
Decide whether sessions may carry USB devices and the clipboard, and what a workstation does when the user disconnects. The defaults apply to everyone; add per-user exceptions where needed. See App Settings.
-
Roll out the app.
Send users Install the app, or deploy it with Intune, Configuration Manager, Jamf or a script using Unattended install. Users at fixed desks can use a Computle Device instead.
-
Know where to get help.
The portal shows the service status at the top of every page. When something is not working, Getting Help says what to check first and how to raise a ticket. Set the support contacts Computle emails on the Users page.
